Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (IPMU)
The prestigious 2010 Bruno Pontecorvo Prize has been awarded to Prof. Yoichiro Suzuki, the director of Kamioka Observatory and the deputy director of IPMU, for his outstanding contribution to the discovery of atmospheric and solar neutrino oscillations in the Super-Kamiokande experiment.
The Bruno Pontecorvo Prize has been awarded annually since 1995 by the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research(JINR) in Dubna, Moscow to scientists who have achieved outstanding results in the field of particle physics.

IPMU副機構長で、東京大学宇宙線研究所神岡宇宙素粒子研究施設長の鈴木洋一郎教授がスーパーカミオカンデ実験における大気ニュートリノおよび太陽ニュートリノ振動の発見に対する卓越した貢献を高く評価され、2010年ブルーノ・ポンテコルボ賞を受賞しました。
ブルーノ・ポンテコルボ賞はニュートリノ物理学に多くの先駆的業績を残したBruno Pontecorvo博士(1913-1993)を記念して1995年にロシアのJINR（ドゥブナ合同原子核研究所）によって創設されました。日本人では2003年には戸塚洋二前施設長、2006年には鈴木厚人高エネルギー加速器研究機構長が同賞を受賞しています。
